Rigel stands as a significant addition to Coorparoo’s landscape, perched gracefully on a steep slope in Brisbane’s Inner Southern suburb. Designed with a dual purpose of capturing breathtaking panoramic vistas of Whytes Hill Reserve and the bustling City of Brisbane, while also serving as an executive family home, our vision was to seamlessly integrate the structure into its natural surroundings.

Employing a soft natural color palette and a refined facade, we aimed to allow the elevated dwelling to harmonize with the enveloping landscape. A majestic Bottle Tree frames the entrance and a soaring entry void is at the heart of the home. This central space allows both public and private areas to orbit, facilitating a fluid circulation throughout.

Both indoors and outdoors, the design maximizes the expansive views, drawing the eye towards the captivating scenery. Rock walls embrace the property, defining the boundaries and creating a sense of seclusion. The elevated backyard, enveloped by lush vegetation, offers a serene retreat, while terraced planting around the pool enhances privacy and frames vistas from within the living spaces.

Externally, the interplay of light and shadow on natural materials adds depth and texture, enriching the visual experience. Through thoughtful design choices and meticulous attention to detail, Rigel embodies a harmonious fusion of modern elegance and natural beauty, inviting residents to immerse themselves in the splendor of their surroundings.

Rock walls surround the house on the street & to the rear, defining a new elevated backyard to be wrapped with draped plants. At the front of the building terraced planting wraps the pool, framing views from the interior living spaces to the city & Whytes Hill and providing privacy to spaces internally.
