Mount Cotton Eco Cabins

This project's unique, off the grid Eco Cabins are nestled into the hillside of an organic farm in Mount Cotton

These sustainable, off-grid eco-cabins are nestled into the hillside of an organic farm on beautiful Mount Cotton in South-East Queensland. The owner of this glorious site is a fifth-generation farmer who has delighted in the panoramic view of Redland Bay for many years – and he thought it was about time to share it.

Our concept is for a series of striking, contemporary eco-cabins that sit gently into the hill above the farm, quietly enjoying the expansive views and flora and fauna of the region.

The design and location of each cabin has been highly considered to allow for privacy and a sense of isolation without compromising the view or the comfort and quality of the guests’ experience.

Understanding the landscape

Understanding the landscape, the orientation, access and views were critical for this project & so aside from hours spent fossicking through undergrowth on site we also built a very simple site model reflecting contours and tree positioning to allow us to test where best we could locate the pods and which size units might best suit certain locations.
