Alexandra Buchanan leads a practice that creates enduring and responsive architecture, with a sense of craft and considered detail. Alexandra established her practice, Alexandra Buchanan Architecture, in Melbourne in 2011. Engaged in projects large and small, the studio has a particular specialty in housing and projects that engage the community. Registered in both Australia & the United Kingdom Alexandra’s portfolio spans public buildings, mixed use development, master-planning, bespoke residential and hospitality.

Alexandra has contributed to the Australian Institute of Architects in Queensland as a Small Practice Forum member, panel member, mentor and state awards juror. Her founding belief is that the architectural journey should be collaborative, dynamic and enjoyable. Her approach to lifestyle design incorporates a respectful use of materials, passive design, and manipulation of light.

At Alexandra Buchanan Architecture our team incorporates, Architects, Interior Designers and Passive House Accredited Designers. Whilst we specialise in residential architecture a great deal of our experience as a team is within commercial practice and therefore as a team we pride ourselves on our unique ability to provide the high quality, unique outcomes of a boutique design-oriented studio with the balanced commercial mindset of a commercial practice.

For Alexandra, it’s not just about a beautiful product – it’s about the journey and the process and we value our relationships with clients.
