  • Luke Van de Vorst

    Architectural Graduate

MArch(Hons) Dip Building Des & Technology

Growing up, Luke worked on site with his father, a carpenter builder from the Sunshine Coast who specialised in the construction of Architectural houses. This inspired him to complete his formal education as a draftsman, going on to work for several architectural offices in Australia, whilst completing his bachelor degree at QUT. In 2015 he received an internship to work for MVRDV in the Netherlands. There he worked on projects such as the Nike Headquarters Europe, the Masterplan for the regeneration of Glasgow as well as Mirvac’s bid for the for Barangaroo Central development competition in Sydney. Returning to Australia in 2016, Luke joined the ABA team, where he worked part time whilst completing his Masters of Architecture at QUT. At ABA Luke greatly enjoys the reconnection with the intimate scale of residential architecture, understanding how clients live in their most personal spaces and facilitating the expression of the home as an extension of themselves. Luke’s grounded background in construction and drafting, leading on to his experience in high end architecture design has given him a well-balanced, practical and creative approach to his work.

    Architectural Student

    BArch(Hons)

Ashleigh, an aspiring architect and designer, always knew from a young age that she wanted to play a part in creating the spaces that people occupy. She developed an admiration for the building world from her dad, whose expertise as an engineer inspired her to respond to building structures and functions. Ashleigh has just completed her Bachelor of Architectural studies at QUT. She appreciates a deliberate design intent that considers a close relationship between the natural and built environment, as well as the conservation and activation of existing vernacular architecture.

  • Jacob Jooste

    Project Leader

    MArch Prof SACAP

Jacob has a devoted passion for the built-form which he developed though a relentless wanderlust from an early age. Growing up on a farm near a small coastal village on the Garden Route in South Africa and then wide-ranging travels through Africa, Europe and the British Isles he discovered his keen interest in the uniqueness of places, architecture and space-making.

In 2011 Jacob graduated with distinction from the Nelson Mandela University in South Africa with a Masters degree in Architecture. His thesis, focusing on the sensitivity and integration of architecture and landscapes, would be selected to represent the university at the National Design & Technology Exhibition in Port Elizabeth. Jacob would then go on to work in Cape Town over the next 5 years where he was involved in a series of high-end residential and large scale public buildings. In 2017 he joined the ABA team after moving to Brisbane.

As a practising architect, Jacob’s architecture is informed by the unique conditions of its environment and ultimately creates buildings of their ‘place’. This philosophy fuels his keen interest in architectonics and material expression which manifests itself in his design work.

Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry's standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged.

It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum.
